Treating musculoskeletal and neurological pain and dysfunction with use of hands or instruments; it includes mobilization and manipulation of soft tissues and joints.
Dry needling is a technique used by physical therapists to address myofascial pain and dysfunction. The needle is called “dry” because it does not contain any type of medications that are used in other needling techniques. The needles are very thin filament and may or may not be felt when inserted into specific muscle points. It is also referred to trigger point needling or intramuscular needling. The goal of dry needling is to release trigger points or muscle tightness in both acute and chronic pain areas to allow for improved range of motion and exercise tolerance.
Skilled myofascial intervention used for soft-tissue treatment. Applied using instruments that are usually made of stainless steel with beveled edges and contours that can conform to different body anatomical locations.
Exercise and training that is specifically implemented by your physical therapist to help you walk or run better. The exercises involve improving motion in your lower extremity joints, improving strength and balance, and mimicking the repetitive nature of your legs that occur while walking
Strengthen balance control in everyday activities leading to improved fall-related self-efficacy, reduced fear of falling and increased walking speed
Electrical stimulation can be used to manage pain or help elicit muscle contractions depending on frequency/intensity used.
